Lombardi Award finalists hang with kids from TCH

HOUSTON

There were plenty of big smiles this morning as the four finalists for the Rotary Lombardi Award visited Texas Children's Hospital.

Michael Sam from Missouri, CJ Mosley from Alabama, Aaron Donald from Pittsburgh or Anthony Barr from UCLA snapped pictures, signed footballs and even shared sports tips with patients of all ages.

Sam says the courage the kids display inspires him.

"All that's going on today, I think this is the most important thing I can do," he said. "Other than the awards part, I think this is fun and important to see these kids. I'm glad to be there.

The Rotary Lombardi Award honors college football's best lineman. The award also raises money for cancer research.

The winner will be awarded tonight at the Wortham Center.
