American spokeswoman Andrea Huguely said Wednesday that nobody was hurt. Passengers were put on a another plane and arrived Tuesday night at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
Huguely says Flight 1017 carried 182 passengers and a six-person crew during takeoff Tuesday afternoon. Huguely says the bird strike involved the left engine and the flight returned to DFW airport. She had no details on damage to the twin-engine jet, which was taken out of service for inspection.
The Dallas Morning News reports the passengers included several Dallas City Council members heading to a National League of Cities conference. Councilman Philip Kingston says the left engine apparently hit the bird and was vibrating.
