Three suspects in Stafford officer shooting arrested

HOUSTON

Officer Ann Carrizales was wounded in a shooting after she stopped a vehicle around 3:30am Saturday in the 12700 block of Murphy Road. She was hit in the face and chest. Her bulletproof vest likely saved her life.

Even though she was injured, she did manage to chase the suspects. The 21-year-old shooter -- identified as Sergio Francisco Rodriguez -- was located and taken into custody by Missouri City police officers, who came to assist with the chase, along with DPS, Sugar Land and Houston officers. Rodriguez is charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer.

Then on Thursday, Crime Stoppers of Houston announced a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the filing of felony charges against any others in this case. It didn't take long for those tips to come in.

One tip led authorities to the driver of the car, who police identify as Freddy Henriquez, 28. He was located and arrested Friday morning. Henriquez is charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer.

Then later Friday, also thanks to a tip, Daniel Cruz was arrested. Cruz was originally considered a person of interest. He's now been charged with Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer.

Carrizales has been a member of the Stafford Police Department since August of 2010. She's now recovering at home.
