An off-duty reserve deputy from Louisiana shot and wounded a suspected robber in north Houston overnight.

It happened at the Saga Palm apartments on Northborough and Rushcreek in the Greenspoint area. Investigators say the deputy and his brother were on their way to meet two women at the apartment complex when an armed man tried to rob them.

Authorities say the deputy pulled out his gun and shot the robber in the neck. His condition is unknown at this time.

The deputy and his brother left the scene and called 911. Investigators are not sure if the robbery was a setup.
