Boy's injuries lead to charges against mom's boyfriend in Houston

HOUSTON

According to court documents, the 22-month-old child has suffered repeated injuries while with his mother's boyfriend, Ivan Hernandez Jr. The child's mother admitted she was aware of the abuse, officials said.

Hernandez reportedly told investigators he was angry over losing his job back in March when he threw a ball at the boy, striking him in the back and sending him flying into a door, busting his lip.

Court documents state that Hernandez also does things to the child that he knows he is afraid of, like spinning him in the air. In one instance, Hernandez allegedly spun the child around until his leg hit an air conditioning unit. The boy's leg was broken.

Hernandez also reportedly admitted to police that he burned the victim with hot grease, but claimed it was an accident.

A doctor examined the child, finding bruises and fractures in various stages of healing.

Hernandez is charged, but he had not been arrested as of Friday.
