Police say a man babysitting Christalyn Thompkins' son Fabian told Tompkins the one-year-old fell down the stairs, but she did not seek medical care. It wasn't until days later that the grandmother saw the child and took him to Texas Children's Hospital.
Doctors concluded the baby was abused and could have died. Thompkins has been charged with injury to a child by omission.
