Over the past week, the team has played a lot of baseball, but they're also getting to experience life on the road.
The Post Oak Little League started the day at the batting cages. But on this day before he game that could score them a spot in the world championship game of the Intermediate Little League World Series, the team decided to do some splashing around at the hotel pool and even took a trip to Dick's Sporting Goods.
During this series, they have met other players from all over the country and the world and they are enjoying learning about other cultures.
"The Japanese kids, they don't speak much English. And so we played rock, paper, scissors and thumb wars and that's pretty fun," pitcher Hayden Rome said.
"The Puerto Ricans, they do lots of songs and dances and stuff and it is pretty cool," catcher Michael McKean said.
The players also teamed up with the Challenger Division, a group of players with disabilities, to help them bat and round the bases.
"I think it's pretty cool," "Buddy" volunteer Nathan Schaeffer said. "The most fun part was he was pretty fast and I was trying to keep up with him."
The Challenger League traded pins with the Post Oak team, received autographed balls and posed for pictures. By giving their time to this team, the Houston kids received something important in return.
"It's a totally different game almost when you're watching them play. They're out there just enjoying it, playing for fun. They're great kids, they're just having a blast out there and it was great for us to be able to interact with them," Post Oak player Will Kunetka said.
"It makes me realize how fortunate we are to be able to play the game," player Nick Smith said.
After nine days on the road, they're seeing what a Major League-style road trip is like. The experience is teaching them how professional ball players live and the example that they are setting as they represent Houston at the international sporting event.
If they win Sunday's game, they go on to play for the championship title on Monday.
