Mr. Bush and members of his security detail shaved their heads after learning that 2-year-old Patrick, son of a member of the Bush Protective Division was battling leukemia.
Members of the Bush Protective Division launched a web site, http://www.patrickspals.org, to assist with medical bills and have organized the Inaugural Patrick's Pals Motorcycle Benefit run August 10 in Kennebunkport.
Aside from shaving his head, the former president and Mrs. Bush made a donation to the foundation.
The Bushes lost their second child, Robin, to leukemia 60 years ago this October at the age of four.
