Randall County sheriff's office spokesman Danny Alexander says the man was found dead Monday evening after being missing for several hours.
Alexander tells the Amarillo Globe-News that the man had been hiking with a friend and had left to take a photograph in early afternoon. Alexander says the man suffered traumatic injuries in the fall into the ravine.
Alexander says several authorities went searching for the man after he was reported missing. After his body was spotted from a helicopter, firefighters rappelled down the canyon to recover him.
