Central Texas woman killed after pointing gun at officers

ROUND ROCK, TX

Round Rock police spokeswoman Dee Carver tells the Austin American-Statesman police were called late Sunday night about a woman carrying a weapon near a bar. Carver says officers found the woman, 31-year-old Sarah Harrington, sitting on a bench in front of City Hall, about two blocks from the bar where she had been a customer.

Carver says Harrington told officers she had a gun but wouldn't surrender it. Officers tried to disable her with a stun gun and pepper-spray gun, but both were ineffective.

Carver says Harrington then pointed the weapon at the officers.

The officers were placed on administrative duties during an investigation.

Round Rock is located just north of Austin.
