The restaurant had been closed for about a year. Vargo's was a popular place for people to dine for the past 40 years.
Former diners will remember the peacocks and ducks that used to hang out in the small lake behind the restaurant.
New apartments are going up in its place. Vargos on the Lake will feature 261 apartment units with 13 freestanding town houses for rent. It's scheduled for completion in August 2014.
