Houston is the No. 6 seed in the AHL's Western Conference and will open the playoffs at home this weekend against the Grand Rapids Griffins, the No. 3 seed. The pucks drop on Friday night and Sunday evening at Toyota Center, which could be the last games the Aeros play in Houston unless they advance to the second round.
The team announced last week that the franchise is moving to Des Moines, Iowa, and will be called the Iowa Wild. The Aeros are the minor-league affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild.
The Aeros are seeking their second championshp after winning the Calder Cup back in 2003.
Here is the Aeros playoff schedule for the first round:
- Game 1: Fri., Apr. 26, at 7:05pm, Grand Rapids at Houston
- Game 2: Sun., Apr. 28 at 5:05pm, Grand Rapids at Houston
- Game 3: Wed., May 1 at 6pm, Houston at Grand Rapids
- Game 4: Fri., May 3 at 6pm, Houston at Grand Rapids (if necessary)
- Game 5: Sat., May 4 at 6pm, Houston at Grand Rapids (if necessary)
