Wounded war veteran given house in Richmond

HOUSTON

Former US Army Staff Sergeant Chris Maust and his family received a new two story brick home in Richmond. Maust was hurt while commanding a cavalry regiment in 2006.

The former soldier served 12 years in the Army, including multiple deployments to Iraq. The Maust family will live in a 2,700 square foot, four-bedroom home with two and a half bathrooms.

The house was provided by Bank of America and the Texas Sentinels Foundation.

Maust said, "I just can't say thank you to everybody enough. It's just unreal that all this has transpired and it's going to be real now. So I'm pretty, pretty excited, just at a loss for words."

Staff Sergeant Maust is still dealing with a traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, and knee and shoulder injuries.
