In an effort to increase awareness on the negative effects of bullying and enforce a zero tolerance at all its schools, the Houston Independent School District is celebrating its second annual Anti-Bullying Week.

During this week through February 8, several schools are participating in campus activities that emphasize both the dangers of bullying as well as the importance of treating everyone with respect.

Tuesday's event was held at Herod Elementary School and another event will be held Wednesday at Burbank Middle School.

The district says nearly 10,000 of HISD's campus-based teachers, counselors, and administrators participated in mandatory anti-bullying training earlier this year with an emphasis on proactive approaches towards bullying prevention.
