Officials said the suspects entered the Radio Shack on North Gessner near the Katy Freeway just before 9pm Saturday.
A uniformed Houston police officer was working security at the store. He was reportedly monitoring cameras in a back room when he saw one of the suspects enter. He started walking to the front and came face-to-face with a masked male in a hoodie who was holding a pistol pointed directly at him.
According to investigators, the officer drew his duty weapon and discharged it one time, missing the suspect.
Police said two suspects fled through the back, dropping a gun. Another fled through the front.
Police searched the area but did not find them.
