Thousands of Houston area students already know that they're on Santa's good list.

Saint Nick surprised students at Bruce Elementary School today in east Houston, delivering backpacks filled with toys and treats.

The organization, Volunteer Houston, arranged this early visit by Saint Nick. Nearly 10,000 Houston and Bay Area school kids will receive holiday gift backpacks on "Saint Nicholas Day" this Thursday.

The annual project raises funds to benefit thousands of Houston-area kids who may not otherwise receive gifts this holiday season.

The organization has been doing this for 25 years. More than 150,000 students have benefitted from the event.
