Family wants justice for murdered father of four

HOUSTON

About a dozen family members of John Steven Martinez, 45, along with police, are reaching out to the public for any information they may have on the suspects involved in this homicide.

Martinez was shot and killed in his driveway back on October 13. Police say Martinez had been visiting a family member in Pasadena and had just arrived home and was walking to his door when he was confronted, robbed and then shot to death.

Family members are begging anyone who may have seen anything to come forward. They say Martinez was a father and four and the backbone of the family. They just want justice for their loved one.

His wife Norma Martinez said, "My husband was a loving, caring man. He lived to serve God and his family. He worked so hard for so many years to take care of us. Form someone just to come and take his life -- these people have no morals."

"These people don't realize what they took away from us," his daughter Veronica Martinez said. "They took away memories that we'll never be able to have and events we will never get to do."

Police say the next day all of the items that were taken from Martinez were found about 10 minutes away, near the intersection of Bellfort and Crosswell. The suspects had discarded everything on the street.

Police also learned the same gun used to kill Martinez was used in another homicide that just took place earlier this month on November 8.

Police also believe the suspects live near where the items of Mr. Martinez were thrown out.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
