Man hit by cars, killed on Northwest Freeway

Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies were working Sunday to solve the mystery surrounding a man's death on the Northwest Freeway.

Officials said the unidentified man was hit by several cars on the highway and died.

It happened around 1am in the 22600 block of Highway 290 at Telge.

According to HCSO, the man was driving east on the highway when pulled onto the shoulder for some reason. That's when he got out of his vehicle and tried to cross the freeway.

Deputies said he was hit by six or seven cars in the westbound lanes. He was dead by the time emergency responders arrived.

One witness told us the man appeared to be intoxicated when he tried to cross the freeway.

The incident remains under investigation.
