The bullets started to fly at the Town Park Apartments on Harwin Drive at Parkfront just after 11pm.
Police say the victim was shot once and is expected to survive his injuries.
Officers found bullet holes in at least three nearby cars.
There is no word yet on what motivated the shooting, but no one has been arrested.
