The HPD officer and the driver crashed on Airline near Aldine Mail Route in Houston's north side.
Investigators say the officer was heading south on Airline but his emergency lights and sirens were not on. A car making a left turn cut in front the officer, hitting the cruiser.
Both the officer and the driver of the car were taken to the hospital injuries that are not life-threatening.
