On September 24, a man entered the Zales jewelry store at 22513 Tomball Parkway, pointed a gun at two employees, handed one of them a bag and demanded rings from a display case. The suspect ordered the employees into the back room, then left the store and got into a green Saturn vehicle in the parking lot.
Three days later, police released surveillance video of the robbery. On October 2, Crime Stoppers received a tip in which the caller stated the suspect looked like Keith Wayne Johnson.
Investigators say the height and weight range of Johnson resembled the suspect. Police say one of the store employees later picked Johnson out of a photo array as the suspect who robbed the store.
According to court documents, Johnson took 56 rings worth a total of more than $205,000.
Johnson, 43, is charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.
Court documents state Johnson has prior convictions for burglary of a habitation in 1992 and aggravated robbery in 1998.
