HOUSTON --
All northbound lanes of Highway 288 are open again after being closed for construction for several hours this morning. Two inbound lanes of 288 at Southmore, as well as the right shoulder lane, were closed because of the construction. The lane closures caused major delays for drivers getting into town..
According to Houston Transtar, recently repaired pavement at that location was curing slowly and the lanes would not be able to handle the morning rush hour traffic.
All lanes were reopened just after 9am.
