The clerk's office says a data transfer error caused the office to show Guinn in the lead for the Precinct 2 constable Democratic runoff. Christopher Diaz actually had more votes, with provisional ballots yet to be counted.
The clerk's office says some votes were counted twice, but the correct results were issued about two hours later.
"We got to the ultimate final results that both judges diligently went over," said Harris County Clerk Stan Stanart. "Everybody in a room agreed, this is right and it went out then."
The error was blamed on an additional step in the vote counting process, added due to issues with the County Department of Education primary election back in May.
