It happened around 12:30am near the Richmond exit ramp.
Police say the man was driving south on the West Loop in a small sports car. He reportedly swerved to try to make the exit but instead slammed into the rubber barrels at the end of the concrete divider.
He was taken to the hospital but is expected to be okay. No one else was in the vehicle.
