Monique Jasmine Garces, 24, is charged with injury to a child. According to the Ft. Bend County Sheriff's Office, Garces returned to her home from a party Saturday. She later sent a text to a friend, saying she had beaten her four-year-old son.
The friend went to Garces' home and reportedly found the child had been beaten. She took the boy to the child's stepfather, and together they took him to the hospital.
CPS also was notified and conducted a separate investigation. In an interview, the boy reportedly told officials had been beaten.
Garces was arrested and is now in the Ft. Bend County Jail with a bond set at $25,000.
The boy and his sibling, a 6-month-old infant, are in the care of family members.
