Two survivors of the USS Houston shared memories of the ship's sinking at a reunion Saturday.

The WWII veterans joined relatives of their shipmates for a memorial in downtown Houston.

There's a monument in Sam Houston Park dedicated to the USS Houston, which sank 70 years ago this week.

The ship was attacked by the Japanese off the coast of Java.

Only a quarter of the more than 1,000 crew members survived the sinking and subsequent captivity.
