Major wreck in NW Harris County sends seven people to hospital

HOUSTON

The wreck happened around 3pm on the Highway 290 feeder road near Barker Cypress.

Authorities say a Toyota minivan was heading outbound when its driver was about to miss the Skinner Road exit and overcorrected to try and make it. However, the driver then lost control of the van and rolled over. According to SkyEye HD video, the car stopped upside down on a curb.

Initial reports suggested that two people were ejected from the vehicle, but authorities now say that everyone was restrained in their seats.

All its occupants were transported to area hospitals via LifeFlight or ambulance. At last check, the victims suffered mostly broken bones and other serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities say the minivan was carrying a family of seven. Four of the occupants were children ranging between 2 and 10 years old.

The accident has cleared and traffic is back to normal.

No other details were immediately available.
