Investigators were called to Cricket Hollow Apartments on F.M. 1097 Saturday for a shooting.
They found Terry Cochran, 58, dead at the scene with a single gunshot wound to the chest.
Officials said the body was sent to the Montgomery County Forensics Center in Conroe for an autopsy.
