Salvation Army sergeant attempts bell-ringing record

HOUSTON

Sergeant Greg Maxwell is one of 24 bell ringers in the U.S. who is continuously ringing a bell outside a red kettle for 36 hours. Maxwell started at 11am Thursday, and says he's doing it just to give back.

Maxwell gets a 10 minute break every four hours. He can't eat any food, and can only have water, juice or Gatorade to drink.

The current world record is 34 hours.
