The construction project finished early, officials said, and all lanes were reopened Saturday evening.
It was originally reported that the shoulder and three left lanes on the southbound side of the Southwest Freeway from Montrose to Kirby would be shut down until 5am Monday.
Crews worked quickly, replacing expansion joints on the southbound overpass at Kirby.
Traffic was expected to flow normally the rest of the weekend.
