The officer's patrol car was hit while the officer was crossing the intersection of JFK and the North Beltway.
The officer was taken from his smashed-up car and transported to Northeast Memorial Hospital with bumps on his head and bruises on his legs. Police say the other driver was not drunk. He was not hurt.
Pieces of those two vehicles littered the JFK and beltway for hours.
