Lonnie Ray Henderson was arrested at George Bush Park in September. He was behind the fire line and dressed in full Houston Fire Department gear, officials said.
Three fires at the park that week burned roughly 1,500 acres.
Authorities said Henderson claimed he reported the fire and was trying to help put it out.
According to the fire chief at the West I-10 Volunteer Fire Department, Henderson used to volunteer there, but turned in his uniform more than a year ago and has not volunteered with them since.
He has never worked for HFD.
