Feds drop sexting-related charge, state takes over

SAN ANTONIO, TX

The San Antonio Express-News reported Friday that federal prosecutors have dropped their case against 43-year-old Cynthia Stewart, saying a state charge of online solicitation of minor is more appropriate.

The boy's family knows someone with Immigration and Customs Enforcement and initially contacted the federal agency.

Stewart, who allegedly texted nude photos of herself to the boy, was booked late Thursday in San Antonio on the state count. Jail records Friday didn't immediately list the status of her case or an attorney.

Stewart originally faced federal counts of receipt of child pornography and solicitation of a minor.

She's on administrative leave from the Judson Independent School District.
