The city of Rosenberg wants to annex six unincorporated areas that amount to about a thousand acres. Homeowners say they oppose a forced annexation which they fear would cause their property values to drop.
"We're just fighting against it. We all came together as different neighborhoods and most of us don't know each other but we're sticking together like a team and fightin 'it like an army against the few people that are choosing the matter on us," resident Jonathan Silva said.
The city of Rosenberg says annexed property owners would benefit from police, road improvement and other city services. Annexing the properties would generate $171,000 a year.
