HPD investigating 2 overnight shootings

HOUSTON

According to officials, one person was shot and wounded around 10:30pm Friday while waiting for a bus at Bissonnet and Bonhomme.

A few hours later, another person was shot during a robbery at Shadow Tree Apartments in the 9400 block of West Sam Houston Tollway.

Police said the first victim was an innocent bystander caught in crossfire between two shooting suspects. One of them fled in a silver vehicle.

The second victim was shot in the chest around 2:30am Saturday after at least two suspects robbed him. The suspects got away with his wallet and cell phone, police said.

After the second shooting, authorities said a female companion drove the victim around looking for a police officer. She eventually dropped him off at a bus stop on Woodfair at Lansdale where he called 9-1-1.

Both victims were taken to area hospitals and are expected to survive.

Police initially believed the two shootings may be related because both victims were found at bus stops. Further investigation revealed evidence that the two incidents were not linked.

Anyone with information on either of these shootings is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
