Firefighters early Tuesday morning found flames shooting through the roof when they arrived at Full Gospel Lighthouse Church of Santa Fe. No one was injured in the blaze, which firefighters had under control within an hour.
Santa Fe fire Chief Tommy Anderson tells the Galveston County Daily News that the front part of the church was destroyed.
Galveston County Sheriff's Office spokesman Ray Tuttoilmondo says arson investigators were sent to the scene.
The Rev. John Morse says the church, founded in 1986, has about 12 English-speaking and about 30 Spanish-speaking members.
Santa Fe, with a population of about 10,000, is about 40 miles southeast of Houston.
