Rewards increased for wanted fugitives

AUSTIN, TX

Information leading to the arrest of fugitive Alfonso Quiroz will bring tipsters up to $12,500, while information leading to the arrest of sex offender fugitive Dallas Waddell will bring an award up to $6,000 cash. Texas Crime Stoppers tips are guaranteed to be anonymous.

Quiroz, 32, is wanted for murder in connection with a May 17, 2007, murder south of Fort Stockton, where a man was found shot to death on the side of a road. He was arrested, then later released after posting bonds totaling $600,000 and failed to appear on his scheduled court date. He has been on the run ever since.

Quiroz has a scar on his forehead and several tattoos, including his inside left forearm that says "LIFE/DEATH" and on his outside upper left arm that says "ONLY GOD WILL JUDGE ME." For more information on Quiroz and additional photos, see his DPS Most Wanted poster.

Waddell, 46, is wanted for a parole violation and in connection with a burglary of a habitation in Hill County. Waddell last registered as a sex offender with the Hill County Sheriff's Office on April 2, 2004. He absconded in 2005, and his last known address was in Whitney. He has prior convictions including sexual assault of a child and multiple convictions of aggravated assault.

Waddell has the name "Diana" tattooed on his left hand. He also has lion/clouds/trees tattoos on his upper left arm, and Jesus/heart/cross tattoos on the outside of his right leg. He has worked as a boiler maker, pipe fitter and laborer. For more information on Waddell, see his DPS Most Wanted poster.

One offender from the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list and one from the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders list are featured each month in hopes the higher reward money from the Governor's Criminal Justice Division will generate additional tips. The higher reward amount will only be paid if the tip comes in the same month the fugitives are featured.

Texas Crime Stoppers, which is funded by the Governor's Criminal Justice Division, offers cash rewards to any person who provides information that leads to the arrest of one of the 10 Most Wanted Fugitives or Sex Offenders. Anyone with information can provide anonymous tips in three different ways:

  • Call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).
  • Text the letters DPS -- followed by your tip -- to 274637 (CRIMES) from your cell phone.
  • Submit a tip through the DPS website by selecting the fugitive you have information about, and then clicking on the link under their picture to submit a web tip.
All calls, texts or emails are anonymous, and tipsters will be given a tip number. You do not have to give your name. Do not attempt to apprehend these fugitives yourself. Authorities say they are considered armed and dangerous.
