Police say at about 2:20am, patrol officers noticed a van traveling with a headlight out on Bennington. They initiated a traffic stop on Oklahoma Street.
At that time, the van slowed down and the doors opened. Police say an officer got out of the patrol car, and witnessed a suspect getting out of the van with a shotgun. They say he pointed it at the officer.
The officer fired several times, but police say it's not clear if he hit anyone. The officer was not injured.
Police say four to six suspects got out of the van and ran. None have been located. They are described only as young black males.
An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
