It happened around 12:20am Sunday on W. Bellfort at S. Post Oak in southwest Houston.
Houston police say the victim was speeding eastbound on W. Bellfort in a pickup when he hit another truck and a sports utility vehicle at a red light.
Debris from the crash broke the back window of a third vehicle.
The driver who is believed to have caused the crash died at the scene. Investigators estimate he was driving faster than 80mph. He never hit his brakes or tried to slow the vehicle.
Four people in the other pickup were taken to Ben Taub General Hospital. At last check, they were stable.
Two passengers in the SUV are in serious, but stable, condition at Memorial Hermann Hospital.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
