The American Red Cross set up a shelter Wednesday at an elementary school to help the more than 70 displaced residents of the Summerview Apartments.
San Antonio Fire Department spokeswoman Melissa Sparks says investigators are trying to determine what started the fire late Tuesday, causing nearly $3.5 million in damage. She says the fire was extinguished by dawn Wednesday.
Sparks says nine residents and one firefighter have been transported to hospitals. Sparks told The Associated Press that two residents are critical, while the other eight people have non-life threatening injuries. She had no further details on the injured.
