The accident was cleared and the freeway opened again shortly after 4pm Wednesday.
The wreck happened on Highway 59 past Highway 288 below an overpass. The southbound lanes had been closed between 288 and Fannin St.
Motorists had been urged to consider an alternate route by using I-10 or 610 for Southwest Freeway destinations. The northbound 288 to Southbound Highway 59 ramp is open.
