Police say Lawson fell during a physical altercation with another patient at the Waco VA Medical Center. Justice of the Peace Billy Martin described the incident as a shoving match.
Lawson was transported to another hospital, where he died Tuesday. An autopsy has been ordered.
Police did not release the name of the other patient. No further details have been released.
