Officials said a man died after he had a heart attack while driving and crashed his car in southwest Houston. It happened around 11:30pm Saturday on the Southwest Freeway near Chimney Rock.

Houston police say the victim was driving a silver Isuzu Trooper northbound on the Southwest Freeway near Chimney Rock when he lost control of the vehicle and hit the center median. The vehicle then crossed all main lanes of the freeway and hit the guardrail on the right shoulder.

When Houston Fire Department personnel responded to the scene, they found the male in apparent cardiac arrest.

The 65-year-old victim, of Sugar Land, was transported to the Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he later was pronounced deceased.

Police say no other persons or vehicles were involved in the accident.
