Gardner and his passenger -- his step-great-granddaughter Lyric Fox, 12 -- were both killed.
Police said there was no indication that alcohol was a factor.
Man, young girl dead in one-vehicle crash
PASADENA, TX
According to the Pasadena Police Department, 56-year-old Daniel Gardner was driving a Mazda pickup truck at a high rate of speed in the 8600 block of Red Bluff.
Gardner lost control of his truck. He hit a utility pole, wrapping the vehicle around it.
