Rain possible factor in fatal accident

HOUSTON

Around 8:40am, a 38-year-old woman was driving southbound in the 4000 block of Eldridge Parkway when she lost control of her Mitsubishi Montero at a curb, according to Houston police. The woman crossed over into oncoming traffic and collided with a white Mac dump truck traveling northbound on the road.

The woman was killed and the driver of the dump truck was transported to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital with minor injuries.

Detectives say heavy rain conditions were present when the wreck occurred.

The woman's identity is being withheld pending notification of family members.
