HOUSTON
Police had gotten a tip that a wanted suspect was in the area near Worthing High School on Reed at Scott on Houston's south side. They located the man, in his 20s, outside a fish restaurant across from the school and attempted to make a felony stop. The man was armed and refused to leave his vehicle, so Worthing High School was put on lockdown as a precaution at about 10:45. The lockdown was lifted an hour later.
SWAT officers were brought to the location in the 4600 block of Roseneath. The suspect's vehicle was surrounded and then sandwiched between two SWAT vehicles. At that point the man gave up and was taken into police custody.
The suspect's vehicle was searched and the scene finally cleared.
The suspect had two misdemeanor warrants and a felony warrant out for his arrest. There's no immediate word on the charges the warrants stemmed from.
