Fallen officers recognized in ceremony

HOUSTON

Sheriff Adrian Garcia and the Harris County Sheriff's Office honor guard conducted a peace officers' Memorial Day ceremony at the family law center.

The ceremony honored the 39 sheriff's deputies and detention officers, and 17 deputy constables who have died in the line of duty since 1895. The survivors of fallen deputies also placed yellow roses in a special vase.
