Alleged copper thief arrested

LIBERTY COUNTY, TX

The Liberty County Sheriff's Office says suspect Lance Mears was apprehended Monday evening in Harris County and was transported back to Liberty County and placed into the Liberty County Jail. Mears, 25, was captured on surveillance video while atop a pole, allegedly stealing copper near Dayton.

The LCSO says Mears has an extensive criminal history including aggravated sexual assault of a child, burglary of a habitation, theft and possession of a controlled substance.
