Dress for Success needs your help

"This year we are all feeling the uncertainty and anxiety of tough economic times, and now more than ever our clients need help finding a job," said Nancy Levicki, president and co-founder of Dress for Success Houston. "Imagine the life of a woman who spent the majority of her life on public assistance… who recently landed her first job through hard work and determination....who finally earns just enough money each month for rent and food for her children....and then loses that precious job and its promise of self-sufficiency. These are the women who come through the doors of Dress for Success Houston for help. This year alone, we hope to be able to serve over 5,000 women."

Presented by Chevron, S.O.S. Week brings in over 70% of the inventory in Dress for Success Houston. In 2010, generous Houstonians donated more than 16,000 items during S.O.S. Week, which helped the more than 4,600 Houston area women that came through the doors of the agency. This year, Dress for Success Houston anticipates serving an ever increasing number of job ready women, some entering the job market for the first time, others hoping to re-enter the workplace.

Donations should include gently worn business suits, shoes and handbags. The suits should be clean and on hangers. There is a special need for sizes 14 and up and shoe sizes 9 and larger, but all suit and shoe sizes are welcomed. Drop-off locations include Houston area locations of MW Cleaners and the Dress for Success Houston office at 3915 Dacoma, Suite A, Houston, TX, 77092. In addition, monetary donations are accepted. In fact, a $75 donation will cover the cost of one suit and accessories.
