Residents relocated after fire rips through complex

Some residents are being relocated after a fire ripped through an apartment complex in northwest Harris County.

At least ten people are being relocated at a northwest Harris County apartment complex after another fire ripped through their homes.

The flames started Friday at the Vineyard Trace apartments on Kuykendahl and FM 19-60. When firefighters arrived, flames were shooting out of at least one unit. It spread to several others by getting into an attic space.

Some of the residents displaced say they feel lucky.

"I lost everything now. I don't have anything left. But I was like my Mom is OK, we're OK. That's what matters," said resident Yakara Garcia.

The apartment complex is putting the fire victims into other units on the property and the Red Cross is also help them out.

The fire marshal's office is looking into what started the fire.
